Position Overview:
As an Optical Engineer at Zivid, you will be responsible for simulating, designing and testing optical systems in future camera project deliveries. You will closely collaborate internally with a dedicated project team, team leads as well as key suppliers to facilitate project success and proactively identify and mitigate risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the design of optical components in upcoming products.
- Specifying, simulating, designing and testing optical systems and/or its sub-components in close cooperation with project team members and key optical suppliers.
- Performing systems-level analysis and modelling of imaging and sensing systems.
- Facilitate, promote and drive cross functional initiatives, discussions, and development related to optical systems to maximize product performance with regards to thermal/mechanical stability, 2D and 3D image quality, and speed.
- Designing and performing experiments and documenting the results.
- Managing project deliverables and schedules regarding optical systems into new camera projects.
- Together with other team members in the optical team, build and maintain a dedicated optical lab.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., optics, maths, physics, signal processing).
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as an optical engineer, preferably in a HW technology-related industry.
- Greatly beneficial to have experience working with 3D cameras, LIDARs or similar product
- Experience working wit suppliers in Asia.
- Experience in developing optomechanical products.
- Experience in computer vision and image processing.
- Experience using Python
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a proactive mindset.
- Proficiency in optical design and simulation tools and software.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and lead by example.
