ZEG Power AS is a company established in 2008 as a Joint Venture between the two Norwegian research institutes Institute for Energy Technology (IFE) and Christian Michelsen Research AS (CMR). The objective of the company is to be a technology provider for large-scale plants, and an equipment provider for small-scale plants, for production of hydrogen and/or electrical power from hydrocarbon gases with integrated CO2 capture, based on the patented ZEG-technology. The technology development started in 2001 and ZEG Power has, in collaboration with its owners used significant resources in research and development of the ZEG-technology. The different technology elements are verified in pilot scale and technical – economic feasibility studies have shown that the technology has a significant potential for energy efficiency and cost effectiveness compared to conventional technology. Both fossil and renewable fuels can be used, and the technology is in addition very flexible with regard to applications and size of plant.
