About the job


It’s an exciting time to join sensiBel on our journey to bring the next generation microphone technology to the market. You will be part of a highly skilled, committed and motivated team that embrace challenging tasks every day. As a full-time optical development engineer, you will work closely with our skilled technical team to further develop the core optical technology of our MEMS microphone and future products. You will work with scaling a technology that will ship products to the most demanding consumer electronics customers. You will be a key contributor to our success and have fun along way.

Key responsibilities


• Run optics simulations of our core optical system, including simulations of our next generation concepts
• Ensuring performance in the optical system through detailed simulations and measurements, given input from design, manufacturing and assembly tolerances.
• Develop our in-house code for optical simulations
• Develop and build optical characterization setups for sub-component characterization
• Support our development and production projects within assembly and microfabrication for component manufacturing
• Structure and analyze simulation and test data to optimize yield and quality

Qualifications and skills


We are seeking a person with a Masters or PhD in Physics or Engineering, with a focus on practical and theoretical micro-optics, optical MEMS or photonics. Knowledge and experience of optical semiconductor and microtechnology including VCSEL and diffractive optics is a big advantage. Some travel (e.g. to the production facilities) is expected. Some of the work includes on-site lab work in Oslo.


• M.Sc. in electrical engineering, with a focus on optics or similar
• Master’s or PhD work, or work experience within optics, photonics or micro optics
• Experience with coding and simulations in one or more programming languages and programs such as Python or Matlab
• Experience and knowledge of microsystems or MEMS processing and integration
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality technical documentation
