Job Description

United States Steel Corporation has an immediate opening for a Plant Inventory Manager at its enter location.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all strategic warehouse and inventory decisions
  • Participate with Corporate team to standardize and consolidate all warehouse and inventory activities
  • Coordinate all plant efforts to reduce material inventory and recognize cost saving opportunities
  • Coordinate all vendor interactions for VMI activities and work to reduce overall material costs
  • Coordinate all plant related vendor KPI and VVP activities within warehouse and stocking activities
  • Coordinate and authorize all min/max adjustments to stocking inventories
  • Coordinate all required reporting and tracking activities
  • Monitor, track and coordinate efforts to reduce the total inventory carrying value
  • Interact with plant maintenance, maintenance planning, and operating personnel to reduce inventory, streamline material shipping and deliveries, and improve the overall maintenance reliability functions
  • Coordinate physical inventories and make the required adjustments to inventory stocking levels
  • Work with plant maintenance personnel to sell-off unused inventory
  • Investigate and implement warehouse and inventory procedures and state of the art tools and equipment to facilitate the processes
  • Work with the Headquarters Procurement group and the Plant Service Coordinator to facilitate material shipping and deliveries from outside vendors
  • Interact with the Plant Maintenance and Warehouse groups to institute a formalized material inspection program for goods received
  • Coordinate all regional/centralized warehouse facility activities and third party warehouse programs

Requirements:

  • Ability to establish and implement a vision for improved warehouse and inventory operations
  • Ability and willingness to interface with other USS warehouse and inventory management personnel to share best practices and learnings
  • Ability to communicate effectively to all levels (written, oral)
  • Thorough understanding of the procurement process
  • Leadership ability to interact and negotiate with 3rd party vendors on inventory solutions and implementing key warehouse and inventory strategies
  • Understanding of: • Warehouse management
  • Inventory management
  • Purchasing process
  • Materials management Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) program
  • Mechanical and electrical maintenance equipment (preferred, but not necessarily required)
  • Organizational skills
  • Interpersonal skills (internal and external customers)
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Analytical aptitude
  • Leadership ability
  • Computer, PassPort, MS Office
  • Warehouse and inventory management experience required
