The Opportunity — Full Stack Engineering

Join us to build the products that enable thousands of children through the AV1 robot. As a Full Stack Engineer proficient in vertical feature development across frontend, mobile and API design, you will be at the intersection of complex and exciting technical challenges.

We are expanding our offering for both our paying customers and the children who we serve: we need your expertise and agility to implement novel features. The applications you will oversee and contribute to connect children to their classrooms, educational staff to key data insights and events, and help manage our fleet of robots. You will be developing features end-to-end, starting with eliciting requirements with product and UX specialists, all the way to delivery. You will enable us to create a virtual bridge for children to keep learning when away from school, but you will also help us fully capture the value of our growing unique proprietary dataset through crafty user software, and ultimately solve the root causes of school absenteeism.

You will design, build, and evolve end-to-end both server-side and client-side code. You will be entrusted with autonomy to work across the stack, including occasional work on the devices themselves. You will enjoy the exposure to very varied application-layer code repositories, and be encouraged to engage in equally meaningful discourse with fellow frontend, backend & embedded engineers, as well as designers and product stakeholders.

What You’ll Do — Scope & Responsibilities

Implementing full stack features

• Designing, building, deploying and debugging cross-platform mobile applications

• Implementing responsive and accessible interfaces

• Implementing APIs, services, and adding necessary increments to data schemas

• Developing new, and contributing to existing container-based services

• Utilizing modern build tools and package managers, and contributing to the improvement of the overall fullstack development workflow

• Contributing small increments to our network layer and to our robot app code

Ensuring product readiness

• Instrumenting software across the stack to measure feature success

• Defining and enforcing alerts, SLOs, SLAs and best practices

• Building for correctness, durability, resilience, and performance across the full stack

• Participating in and contributing to incident analysis, debugging, and long-term fixes

Securing the full stack by design

• Embedding secure coding practices throughout the development lifecycle

• Implementing latest web development standards; ensuring robust security (AuthN, AuthZ, encryption) and adhering to best practices for client/server-side development; keeping up with relevant CVEs and observing OWASP’s top-10 guidance

• Contributing to configuring automated security scanning, dependency management, and hardening across our full technology stack including mobile

• Writing unit and end-to-end tests to achieve high coverage of critical user journeys

Supporting product development across disciplines

• Role-modelling AI-driven development to accelerate engineering, whether for development, design or agentic autonomous completion of work

• Working closely with UX and designers to translate prototypes into functional apps

• Contributing to improving developer experience, E2E testing rigs and benchmarking

• Aligning product software discussions and maintaining troubleshooting runbooks

• Iterating on internal fullstack web apps to empower customer support, sales and ops

• Contributing to team learning via guilds and on-the-job training

What You Bring — Experience & Capabilities

• Full stack excellence: Strong proficiency in Go, React, React Native, and familiarity in Rust; solid understanding of API design, backend architecture, and distributed systems; experience implementing services using web protocols like REST, sockets and WebRTC; broad technical background including some understanding of low-level computing and embedded Linux; fluent in AI-driven development to work swiftly across the stack; able to instrument code to create quality product signals; able to debug intertwined issues end-to-end

• Frontend championing: Significant field experience across the full spectrum of frontend and mobile application development tasks; driving best practices, architecture, and quality for all end-user challenges; background in native and/or cross-platform mobile apps including optimisation and deployment; sparring partner for UX and product specialists; deep knowledge about differences, synergies and opportunities between Desktop, Web, Android and iOS

• Operational familiarity: Proven experience with AWS services; hands-on with the likes of Sentry and Grafana; comfortable with some exposure to Terraform files and Kubernetes manifests

• Data & storage competence: Solid experience with relational and NoSQL managed databases; some experience dealing with data warehouses, caches, and alternative types of data stores

• Security & quality mindset: Strong sense for building vertical features that are correct, predictable, secure, and maintainable; fair intuition as to key security aspects such as proper secrets handling and client/server paradigms, encryption standards, rate limiting and vulnerability management

• Technical collaboration: Clear, direct communication, with empathy when working with frontend/mobile, embedded, platform, and non-technical peers; comfortable leading product feature discussions, able to change your mind in light of new evidence, as well as balance tech, product and business imperatives

• Technical education and experience: Higher education in a STEM field (BSc/MSc); considerable practical experience in software engineering; work experience at product companies prior to No Isolation, ideally working across multiple domains or disciplines
