Position overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented intern to help build and expand our training dataset for a basement detection project. Your work will involve reviewing Google Street View imagery and occasionally walking Oslo streets to observe buildings and determine whether they have a basement. The labels you produce will directly feed into a machine learning model used to detect the presence of basement and assess the building’s vulnerability to flood risk, making accuracy and consistency essential.
Key responsibilities
Vulnerability and catastrophe modelling
- Review Google Street View imagery to identify visual indicators of basements in buildings
- Occasionally walk Oslo streets to observe buildings from the outside and supplement remote observations
- Label buildings accurately and consistently following provided guidelines
- Flag ambiguous or unclear cases for review
- Maintain structured records of labeled data
- Contribute to refining labeling guidelines based on your observations
Qualifications
- Basic computer proficiency
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistency
- Ability to follow structured guidelines and processes
- Reliable and self-disciplined, capable of maintaining quality over repetitive tasks
- Good observational skills
- Based in Oslo and able to work on-site
