BOTanist AS, an innovative startup, concentrates on the development of novel sensor systems aimed at precision agriculture and plant care. The primary objectives of the company include the reduction of emissions, cost minimization, and enhancement of crop yields. In pursuit of these goals, BOTanist AS designs and develops cost-effective solutions for large-scale monitoring of soil moisture and nutrient levels. The utilization of this advanced technology enables BOTanist AS to address the prevalent issue of excessive water and nutrient consumption in agriculture. The proposed system facilitates the accurate and targeted provision of water and fertilizer, tailored to the specific requirements of individual sections of cultivated land. Consequently, this approach promotes sustainable resource utilization, mitigates environmental impact, and reduces expenses for farmers. The implementation of BOTanist AS's soil moisture and nutrient level monitoring system allows farmers to adjust their agricultural practices according to local conditions. This adaptation leads to a more efficient and sustainable resource management, which is imperative for confronting both economic and environmental challenges in agriculture. Furthermore, it aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to sustainable infrastructure and natural resource management: SDG 12 - Responsible Consumption and Production: By 2030, global food waste in production and supply chains should be halved By 2030, sustainable management of natural resources should be achieved SDG 6 - Clean Water and Sanitation: By 2030, improve water use efficiency across all sectors significantly and ensure sustainable withdrawals and access to freshwater, addressing water scarcity and substantially decreasing the number of individuals affected by water scarcity. SDG 9 - Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure: sustainable irrigation systems that minimize water and fertilizer waste.
